Your router has just arrived
If your TP Link router arrived by post, it would have been pre-configured up for you. All you need to do is follow the guide that came with your router.
If you no longer have this guide or your router wasn't pre-configured up you can follow our quick setup guide below.
What if I make a mistake?
If you make a mistake during the setup, don't worry because all you have to do is reset the router.
To reset your wireless router please press and hold the reset button on the back of the router for 15 seconds – the router should reboot.
Before you begin
On the back of the router there are 4 ports (or sockets) These may be covered by a sticker. Please remove the sticker before proceeding.
Accessing your router
1: Plug the router into the power supply and press the power button on the back of the router. Plug the Ethernet cable from your Qsat modem into the Blue port on the back of this router and plug the Ethernet cable (the cable supplied with the wireless router) into your computer using port 1 on the back of the wireless router.
2: Open your internet browser and type 192.168.1.1 in the address bar and press “Enter”
3: A box will appear asking you for a username and password. The username is: admin and the password is: admin
Creating a wireless network
4: Click on “wireless”. This is located in the menu on the left side of the page.
5: Change the “Wireless network name” to the preferred name of your new network. Some examples are “Family wireless” or “Johns Wi-Fi” etc… Never use any personal details as this is visible to the public.
6: Change the region to “Ireland” or “United Kingdom” and then click save at the bottom of the page.
Wireless security is important
7: Click on “Wireless security” – This is located under “wireless” on the menu on the left of the page.
8: Select “WPA/WPA2 - Personal” and enter your preferred password in the “Wireless Password:” box. The password must be above 8 letters or numbers in length.
10: Click “Save”.
11: Red writing will appear above the Save button. You should click on “Click Here” and your router will restart wireless radio; finalizing the setup.
